“I’m going to be a serious question” – insiders believe Enzo Maresca could soon be under a lot of pressure at Chelsea

Chelsea got off to a good start to the season early on, but in recent weeks their form has fallen off the cliff. He has now won one in five matches in every tournament, and his only victory is far from bringing one conviction against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

This form of poorness makes us more and more talk about Enzo Maresca’s status as manager. He still holds support from the club’s hierarchy, but that could change soon.

According to a football insider, Mick Brown argues that if Chelsea doesn’t improve the shape and property, Maresca will soon be under severe pressure.

“Getting one game in 5 is not enough for the Chelsea manager. You may get these runs in a season, especially playing multiple games per week. Suddenly, you realize you have lost three or four games in time at all.

“I’ve said for a long time long enough that Chelsea’s defense units aren’t enough, they’re vulnerable. When you can’t defend well, you can’t win the game, and that’s a big problem. I don’t think the players are good enough.

“There are teams in the Premier League with worse defenders than Chelsea, but they do have better defenses. So if the manager can’t sort it out, serious questions will be asked and I think there are already some questions about him.

“If they can’t turn this form around quickly and win five and you’ll get 6, 7, etc., he starts asking if he’s in a strong position.

Chelsea returned to Champions League action on Tuesday to host Benfica before welcoming Liverpool to Stamford Bridge over the weekend. They need to win at least one of them to ease some of the uncertainty surrounding Maresca.
