BEIJING – Giannik Sinner won the China Open by continuing to prepare for the Shanghai Masters by beating American teenage learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in Wednesday’s final.

Thinner rebounded from his US open disappointment by winning the third title of the season in a dominant performance against 19-year-old Tien, the second youngest player to reach the tournament final.

“We’ll improve, we’ll look forward to more and see what the rest of the season will look like, but I’m very happy,” Thinner said.

The sinner then goes to Shanghai. There, he becomes a favorite after Carlos Alcaraz retreated after suffering an ankle injury in the first round of the Japan Open, which won Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Sinner won the 11th consecutive match against Alex de Minaurus in the Chinese Open semi-finals. Thinner’s 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory brought him to the ninth final in the hard court tournament.

Ranked 52nd, Tien was playing in his first tour final after Danil Medvedev was injured on Tuesday when his score was 5-7, 7-5 and 4-0.

The ATP event in Beijing ran at the same time as the WTA 1000 tournament. The fourth round games were top seed Iga Swiatek and fifth seed Jessica Pegula.

Second-seeded Cocogoff has already made it to the quarter-finals and is scheduled to face Everly on Thursday.
