Manchester United’s 15th place finish in the Premier League was the worst since the division’s formation in 1992, and Reuben Amorim had a great deal of trouble with the role.
The 40-year-old benefited from doubt after taking the reins early in the season following the looting of Eric Ten Hag.
Ineos gave the manager £200 million worth of funds to improve the teams of the first team, and then added and reinforced the attacking division.
But so far, the signature hasn’t helped, with the Red Devils sitting in 15th place again after losing three of their first six Premier League outings in 2025/26.
It has been reported that hierarchies are not currently seeking manager changes, but given the disastrous form, it is not surprising that action will be taken over the coming weeks.
To replace Amorim, alternative options have already been created by the board of directors, with many managers appearing on the list of candidates over the past few days.

For the past few days, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraora has emerged as one of the main targets of managers at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard took Cherry to new heights and finished ninth in the UK’s top flight last year, but considering he has less than a year left on his contract, he could move.
However, according to Football Insider, he is not the only Premier League manager in their vision.
They claim that the Germans are emerging as Ineos’ top options, and that hierarchies were impressed by his work at Amex after being appointed in the summer of 2024.
The report also states that the 32-year-old could try to jump over the ship if the Red Devils moved his signature.
Why United’s latest target could be Klopp 2.0?
He no longer manages the Premier League, but former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was the guy who brought the character to the division, but also had endless pain in United’s fanbase.
The Germans claimed a historic 7-0 victory at Anfield in the 2022/23 campaign as they only received five losses on 21 outings against the Red Devils.
He may have managed their bitter rivals, but he will not deny that the former Reds boss is a back-to-back winner – claiming the Premier League title at Anfield.
The outlook for a 58-year-old landing is unrealistic, but it is possible that Hazeler’s move is about to land his own version of German.
The 32-year-old may be relatively inexperienced considering his year-long spell on top flights in the UK, but he is already very impressed, taking on 25 of his 53 outings.
Called “incredible” by Eddie Howe, Hartzeller has received great acclaim from current Seagulls player James Milner, with an experienced man comparing him to former boss Klopp.
Such a compliment is a great compliment to the Germans, and has since highlighted the quality he has as a manager despite his tender age, but has a bag of time to improve further in the coming years.

The underlying numbers further highlight how impressive the younger boss is on the South Coast, and are undoubtedly a great option to replace Amorim if he is fired.
His team averaged two goals per game during his tenure, acknowledging just 1.5 goals per game.
They also averaged 1.7 points per game, then helped the Seagulls finish in the top half of last season’s top flight. The Red Devils need to risk appointing young people.
It’s unclear how much it will cost to acquire him from his current contract at Amex, but United desperately needs a young, ambitious manager to inject his team with the necessary sense of optimism.
If he can reach the level achieved by Klopp in his own time in England, it is a great appointment and the Red Devils need to move quickly to prevent another embarrassing campaign.
