US President Donald Trump had suggested that the Premier League would support him in a chat with Arsenal’s Fan Piers Morgan.
The 79-year-old, now in his second term as president, has never hidden his love for sports and recently traveled to New York to watch the Ryder Cup at Beth Page.
Trump plays golf regularly and owns 17 different courses worldwide through his holding company, the Trump Organization.
Trump also enjoys watching the UFC, and his relationship with UFC President Dana White is well documented.
When it comes to American football, Trump’s team is considered to be New England patriots because of his friendship between CEO Robert Kraft and legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
Also, Trump’s team, a major league baseball fan, looks like the New York Yankees, but he’s also grateful for the New York Mets.
In the UK, Trump appears to have a preferred soccer team in the Premier League. Despite being involved in the Blues’ Club World Cup celebration, it’s not Chelsea.
Donald Trump suggests a Premier League team he supports
Speaking to journalist and Arsenal fan Pierce Morgan in 2018, Trump was presented with a gunner shirt with his name on his back. Trump’s son, Baron, is an Arsenal fan, and Morgan wants to make the president a supporter on the North London side.
But Trump has confirmed that his loyalty lies with another Premier League giant, Manchester United.
“It’s beautiful, I have a son who loves the sport,” Trump said in response to his shirt.
Morgan joked: “And he loves Arsenal, right? Are you an Arsenal fan too?”
Trump replied: “No, not particularly, I have a friend who owns Manchester United.”
The “friend” in question appears to be Edward Glazer, co-owner of the Red Devils. In fact, it is allegedly said that Glaser gave £45,000 during Trump’s first US presidential election.
The US president is not the only famous man UTD supporter across the pond, and singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake is also a huge Old Trafford fan.
