BEIJING – Third seed Amanda Anishimova claimed to have opened China with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Linda Noskova in Sunday’s final of the Hardcote Indoor Tournament.
After finishing the title defense of American Coco Gouf in the semi-finals, Anishimova sealed the match with a backhand winner and fell on her back when she first won the trophy.
Noskova offered a tough challenge, but at the end of the encounter the steam disappeared and lasted an hour and 46 minutes.
This year, runner-up at the US Open and Wimbledon, Anishimoba ranked fourth in the world rankings, winning his second WTA 1000 title of the season.
The 20-year-old Noskova saved three match points in the semi-finals and became the youngest Czech player to make this far in the WTA 1000 event since the format was introduced in 2009.
