Hurricane weather wreaking havoc in Scotland, limiting Dunhill to 54 holes

What is usually a great week of Pro Am golf at a golf home has been destroyed by the effects of Hurricane Amy. The adorable, celebrity Dunhill Link Championship at St Andrews was reduced to just 54 holes as the third round was postponed Saturday.

Thus, Sunday’s final round was cancelled. As most of the UK and Northern Europe are fighting Storm Amy, the remains of Hurricane Hanbert and Imelda merged over the Atlantic.

What that means for golf is that Scotland’s own Bob McIntyre is about to add it to his hometown trophy case. McIntyre caught the worst winds of the worst winds on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, painted a second straight 66 and sat under the age of 12 to take the lead. Macintyre said the weather is as bad as I’ve been playing recently. He and the field were in place and ready to use as many layers as needed, but the strong winds prevented the course from becoming playable.

The photographer had a field day capturing the player covering behind the tournament sign and captured McIntyre using a giant white hand warmer pouch with electric heating. Metal fencing surrounding the range had been turned over by strong winds, the main delay in play on Saturday.

Dunhill Links is a proam starring Bill Murray, Andy Murray and others. It’s not related. The group plays one round at St Andrews’ old courses, Carnousty and Kings Burns, and always plays the final round of the championship on the old courses. With the final round being cancelled, the team will continue to play the rest of the course on the journey. It may not be an old course covered in water every time you flash the entire broadcast.

The best McIntyre competition right now is Richard Stern. Stern managed to avoid some of the worst weather conditions of his draw, but now he will play most of the same conditions as McIntyre on Sunday.

“After every year I played here, Stern started.

South Africa will certainly play McIntyre’s name on the leaderboard, against local fans. Only four shots have returned is Brooks Koepka. He is traveling in the Euro. Coepka played both the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, missing both cuts and didn’t beat the 80 in the second round of the Irish Open. Koepka will then finish third in the solo home run at The French Open, and will be competing in Scotland on Sunday.

The third and final rounds will be kicked off again at 9am local time. At this time of year, the weather is currently not raining, but winds of 20 mph or more are looking for winds of 35 mph or more. Victor will have trophy loot, photoshoots at Swilkan Bridge and hopefully a hot drink.
