Liverpool is determined to reach an agreement with French international defender Ibrahima Conate on a new deal, and he joined the final nine months of the existing contract.
Conate, who has struggled with his form earlier this season, was out of contract on June 30th, and so far, all attempts for Liverpool to reach an agreement have been unsuccessful. Real Madrid remains interested in signing him if he becomes a free agent, but the real-life Premier League champion is an ongoing effort to ensure this reality doesn’t happen.
Liverpool is still discussing with Ibrahima Konate about a new contract
According to football insiders, Pete O’Rourke has confirmed that Liverpool is in discussion with Conate in the New Deal, and despite his suspicious form in recent weeks, they are sure he will remain a very important player on the Arne Slot team.
“Liverpool is still in negotiations with Conate and his representative over a new contract. They hope to end speculation about his future by signing a new deal at Anfield, but obviously Real Madrid is ready to move if the contract is taken away.
“He’s not at his best so far this season, but I don’t think he’ll have a big impact on his long-term future. Liverpool wants to keep him.
Liverpool is eager to tie Conate to a new contract before the January transfer window opens. At that point, Real Madrid can secure a pre-contract agreement with him. Given this, it will be interesting to see how things will develop in the coming weeks.
