Nottingham Forest has been a very difficult few weeks. This coincides with the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. The former Tottenham head coach arrived on the city grounds last month after Nuno Espirito Santo was controversially fired, but he struggled to beat his authority to his troops.
Since entering, Postcoglow has overseen seven games (D2 L5) without a win, and the run continues after a 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Sunday. Nottingham Forest supporters have already turned on the Australian, and it’s possible he’s already heading for the bag.
Nottingham Forest Planning speaks with Ange Postecoglou
According to a soccer insider, Mick Brown has now revealed that Postcoglow is likely not released from duties by Nottingham Forest Owner Evangelos Marinakis.
“I’m sure I’ll be asked by Post-Coglu. Given how the owner works, he’ll not be afraid to pull the trigger if things aren’t working, and at this point it’s obviously not.
“When you get into the international break, it’s probably because they gave you a few weeks to sort things out and find someone else, and they’re coming out from behind a great season, so it’s always going to be tough this season.
“Now, the Post-Coglo is coming in and he wants to change their overall style. They went from a defensively solid counter-offensive side to the other side. That style doesn’t work in Tottenham and not in Forest.
“The problem is, you lose some games and suddenly the sky falls above you. They seem to have a lecture, manager and owner. So it didn’t work exactly for Nuno, so we’ll see what happens.”
Postecoglou is under pressure. Postcoglo faces Chelsea’s side in their first match after the international invasion, but for now we can’t guarantee he’s in charge of that fixture.
