Jack Harrison’s future at Leeds United is in the spotlight once again, with the club reportedly willing to make an offer in the January window – but only on one condition.
According to Football Insider, Leeds are only willing to sign the 28-year-old winger if they can secure a suitable replacement.
This scenario reveals both Harrison’s uncertain position at Elland Road and the urgency with which Leeds are planning their next steps.
Harrison returned to Leeds after a two-year loan spell at Everton, but his return has been slow.
Jack Harrison is struggling at Leeds United
His limited involvement stands in stark contrast to the high expectations placed on him, especially given his contract until 2028 and his past Premier League experience.
Leeds are not prepared to simply sever ties. The club’s stance is clear that they will only consider offers if the loss of Harrison does not result in a shortage of personnel.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:
“Yes, it’s amazing that he actually came back to Leeds United after two loan spells from Elland Road.
“Look, Leeds should probably be looking to strengthen their team now instead of weakening them.
“Harrison, he’s also under contract until 2028. I don’t know if Leeds will take it unless they get a good offer for him.
“A lot will depend on what Leeds can do in the transfer market, but if they can bring in some attacking reinforcements that could potentially open the door for a move for Jack Harrison.
“But I don’t think there’s any chance of me leaving Harrison at this point.
“He continues to be part of Coach Farke’s plans and will be hoping to break into those plans and get more game time in the coming weeks, at least until January.”
Daniel Falke wants Harrison suspended
Harrison’s relationship with the club is also complicated. His decision to leave in a year when Leeds were relegated and his subsequent moves have left fans lukewarm about his return.
Harrison is not the first choice to be a starting pitcher, but his experience and contract length give him value. However, the club also recognizes the need to adapt its squad to the rigors of the Premier League.
As January approaches, all eyes will be on whether Leeds can identify and secure the winger they want.
