Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that the inclusion of Amad Diallo as a substitute in today’s game against Liverpool left him a bit “upset”.

Goals from Brian Mbeumo and Harry Maguire gave the Red Devils a big win at Anfield, taking three points for the first time at this stadium since 2016.

Amorim was pleased with Amad’s play, with the talented young wing-back setting up Mbeumo’s goal with a great pass and generally showing some great shifts up and down the right flank.

Still, check out what Amorim had to say post-match about being upset about the Ivorian international being substituted in the second half…

“Amad is doing very well in that position. He is perfect for that position,” Amorim said in the post-match press conference.

“He was upset today when I came on as a substitute and he got a yellow card.

“Even if he doesn’t, he will continue to play in games because he is very important to us.”

Amad Diallo could be a very important player for Manchester United

Amad has shown many times during his United career that he is prepared to become a very important player for the club.

The 23-year-old has had some fitness issues, but when he is fit and ready he always seems to have a positive impact.

Despite initially starting out as a winger or attacking midfielder, Amad is currently showing qualities as a wing-back in Amorim’s system and it will be interesting to see how he continues in that new role.

In many ways, it feels like MUFC could use Amad in their front three, but given his work rate and decent defensive ability, this looks like a good way to get the most out of him for now.
