Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
According to transfer official Indi Kaira, the Spanish side are keen on the 26-year-old South American and Liverpool are willing to sell him for a fair price.
Although the possibility of a January transfer cannot be ruled out, a summer transfer seems more likely. Liverpool wouldn’t want to lose a key player like him midway through the season. They have had a poor start to the season and will need to keep key players in order to bounce back strongly. Mac Allister has been hailed as “absolutely amazing”.
Alexis Mac Allister could be sold
Meanwhile, they have already set a valuation for the 2022 World Cup winner and are willing to sell him if the asking price is met. Liverpool have already made plans for a replacement and are hoping to sign an elite defensive midfielder.
Liverpool have quality central midfielders like Ryan Gravenbirch and Dominik Szoboszlai at their disposal. However, they lack a specialist defensive midfielder who can protect their back four and break down opposition attacks.
Grafenberg has taken on that role, but the Dutch international is active up front. Using him as a defensive midfielder would limit his best qualities, so Liverpool should consider bringing in a midfield disruptor so they can properly unleash the Dutchman.
Mac Allister’s new challenge?
Meanwhile, Mac Allister has proven himself in the Premier League with Brighton and Liverpool. Having won the league title, he may feel that now is the perfect time to take on a new challenge. It would be difficult to turn down a move to Real Madrid. They are widely regarded as the biggest club in the world and he may aim to test himself in Spain. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
