  • Arne Slott confirms Jeremy Frimpong’s injury
  • Liverpool remain without Alisson

Liverpool manager Arne Slott has issued an update on the serious injury situation ahead of the club’s next games, particularly against Brentford on Saturday, admitting another setback and some remaining questions.

Slott revealed that Jeremy Frimpong has a hamstring problem and will miss at least the next two games, while Alexander Isaac and Ryan Gravenbirch are doubtful to play at the weekend.

To make matters worse, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will also be out for longer than originally expected.

Slott did not demystify the Frimpong news.

“Jeremy’s condition is not good…it’s a hamstring injury so it’s going to take some time.” The player confirmed that he will miss the game against Brenford and at least next week’s game, as reported by Ben Jacobs.

Regarding the fitness of Isak and Grabenbirch, who have struggled with injury problems this season, Slott said:

“Alex, it’s not that bad. He’s a question mark for the weekend…and the same can be said for Ryan.”

Both are still being evaluated and involvement is likely to be decided in later sessions.

Isak has struggled for the Merseyside club since joining in a record Premier League transfer in the summer, and was sent off at half-time in a Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Alison will not be in the team tomorrow. It will take a little more time.” Slott conceded a point.

In the Brazilian’s absence, Liverpool will turn to their agent between the sticks, Giorgio Mamadashvili.

If the Reds can get through this period with smart rotations and disciplined game management, they can limit the damage and maintain momentum until key players return.
