Man City and Tottenham have had close battles on the pitch in recent seasons and will continue to do so on the transfer front in 2026. Both clubs are looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squads and have set their sights on one particular target: Ezri Konsa.
Konsa has been a very consistent performer for Aston Villa and, at 28 years old, is at the peak of his career. He has broken into the England organization in recent years and this has sparked interest in his services.
Ezri Konsa attracts interest from Manchester City and Tottenham
According to TBR Football, manager Graham Bailey has confirmed that Man City and Tottenham want to sign Konsa, and although Aston Villa have no plans to sell him, they will have to consider a move if he does not sign a new contract by next summer.
“Ezri Konsa’s name comes up a lot when talking to clubs about potential defensive options. Obviously Villa don’t want to sell him, but with just over two years left on his contract he is now one of England’s top defenders and Villa will probably have to tie him to a new deal.”
“Konsa is a player who nailed it in the Premier League and is now proving himself at international level. It’s no shock to me that some big clubs are eyeing him.”
Konsa was drafted by Liverpool in the summer, so it would be no surprise if he moves in 2026. Especially if he decides not to sign a new contract with Aston Villa. For Man City and Tottenham, he would be a great addition to their respective first teams, but for now it remains to be seen whether either club will make a move in the coming months.
