Anthony Kim’s return to professional golf has been an eventful one.
After nearly 12 years away from the professional game, Kim returned to LIV Golf as a “wild card” player in 2024. Kim’s return initially made headlines, but the 40-year-old struggled on the breakaway circuit. He failed to score any individual points in two years and was relegated this season after finishing 55th in the individual standings. The LIV franchise may still re-sign Kim. If not, he has a chance to qualify for an LIV promotional event, but the date has not been announced by the league.
Kim told bunkered.co that he may play on the Asian Tour, but is unsure of his playing plans for 2026.
“I need to play more tournaments,” Kim said while in the bunker at the LINK Hong Kong Open. “If I can keep getting better, I’ll be fine.
“I don’t think I’ll play as much on the Asian Tour as I thought (in 2026). I’ll probably play a few, but we’ll see how things go. I don’t know my plans for next year at all.”

Kim will be one of a number of LIV golfers teeing up in Hong Kong this week, with the winner earning a spot in the 2026 Masters and British Open Championship. Although Kim was well off the 54-hole pace set by leader Tom McKibbin, he started with rounds of 68 and 67, marking his best 36-hole score since returning to the pros.
“I hit the best ball since I came back,” he said. bankard.co. “I just haven’t put the ball in the hole yet. I’m definitely seeing my job finally. I’m excited.”
“I wish my score had been a little better, but I hope I can make it in time for the weekend and have a few more days. It’s only been two days, but I hit the ball really well. I’m progressing well.”
Kim shot another 67 on Saturday and is currently ranked 46th in Hong Kong. Kim missed out on last week’s International Series Philippines, but had a T44 finish at the Jakarta International Championship earlier this month.

“I’m still working on getting back the focus I need to hit good shots and compete at the highest level,” Kim told GOLF.com’s Art Stricklin. “You have to concentrate on every shot. There were five or six shots in the round where I wasn’t focused and that led to some bad holes. From there the momentum starts to change and that leads to big scores. That’s the most important thing for me.”
