Newcastle have responded to interest in 21-year-old star player

It has been a difficult start to the season for Newcastle, but there is plenty of time for Eddie Howe to put things right. And they will be able to do so by adding more players to their squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

Part of Newcastle’s problems stem from having only one eligible striker. Nick Waltemade has impressed since arriving from Stuttgart in the summer, but given that Ioan Wissa is yet to make his first appearance for his new club, he is relied upon exclusively in the No. 9 position.

Shortly after joining Newcastle, Wissa suffered a knee injury while on international duty, which has kept him sidelined to this day. There have been suggestions that he could sign another striker in January, but certain goals have ruled out any possibility of him moving to St James’ Park mid-season.

Newcastle unlikely to sign Sam Agehowa

According to Football Insider, Porto’s Sam Agehowa has no interest in joining Newcastle in January if he does.

“Porto are currently doing well in the Portuguese league. They would be very reluctant to sell Agejoa and I’m sure the player himself is happy with his current life in Porto. He will focus on doing the best for himself and winning a spot in Spain’s World Cup squad. So I don’t think there will be any moves in January.”

“There’s a lot of interest in a player like Agehowa. He’s only 21 and at 6ft 4in he’s a top young player. He looks like he’s made for the Premier League. He has good pace and is a good finisher.”

Sam, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham, could be a player to watch next summer, but for now it looks like he will remain a Porto player at least until the end of the season.
