Chelsea are rumored to be interested in signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper will leave the Italian club at the end of this season. His contract ends in the summer, but he has decided not to sign an extension with them.
Fiharges said negotiations between the player and the club had stalled and the club’s sporting director was working hard to repair the relationship between the player and the board. However, due to financial disagreements, the club reneged on their promise. It remains to be seen whether they can convince him to sign an extension.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are hoping to sign the player during the summer transfer window and are a strong candidate to sign the France international if his contract with Milan is not renewed.
They are monitoring closely, but it remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
Chelsea could use Mike Maignan
It’s no secret that they need a quality goalkeeper. Roberto Sanchez lacks consistency and Mike Menhão would be a huge upgrade for the Spaniard.
The French goalkeeper has proven himself with several clubs and is an important player for his country. There is no doubt that he is one of the best goalkeepers in European football and could significantly improve Chelsea’s current options. Menyan has long been branded as an “elite.”
The Blues will need players like him if they want to compete with elite clubs for major trophies. Signing a player of his caliber on a free transfer could be a masterpiece.
Maninan may consider a move.
For an experienced goalkeeper at this stage of his career, the opportunity to move to England could be very exciting. This could be his last chance to join another elite club. It remains to be seen whether he is prepared to push for a move to Chelsea in the coming months.
Chelsea could secure a pre-contract agreement for the goalkeeper when the transfer window reopens in January.
