Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Wolfsburg defender Konstantinos Kourielakis.
The 21-year-old central defender has been doing very well for the German club and is attracting the attention of top teams. He could be a great long-term signing for the two Premier League clubs.
Liverpool and Spurs need Konstantinos Kourielakis
Liverpool need a quality player to replace Ibrahima Konate, who has not signed a contract extension. He will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of this season. They have been monitoring Kourielakis for several months.
On the other hand, Tottenham could certainly use more depth in their defense.
Graham Bailey told TBR Football: “Kryrakis is a calm, left-sided player who has attracted a lot of attention across Europe. Left-footed defenders tend to be a bit more premium and he stands out at the moment.”
Where will Kourielakis end up?
It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs can conclude a contract. The player is highly rated, and it seems likely that more clubs will continue to pay attention to his growth. The German team will certainly be hoping for a bidding war to take place in the summer. Ideally, they would like to keep him at the club long-term, but if that happens they would want to sell him to the highest bidder.
At 21 years old, the central defender is still very young and will only develop with coaching and experience. With the right guidance, he could develop into a top-class defender in the Premier League. Liverpool and Tottenham have been successful in developing young players and they could play a key role in his development.
If either of the two English clubs can sign him for a reasonable fee, it could be a wise investment for his future.
