  • Tottenham one of clubs interested in Sam Agehowa
  • Thomas Frank needs a more consistent striker

Porto striker Sam Agehowa has attracted the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs, one of which is Tottenham, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old striker has scored nine goals in 12 appearances for the Portuguese club this season.

The Spaniard has attracted the attention of top clubs due to his impressive goalscoring record.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank is apparently not happy with Dominic Solanke’s current attacking options. Solanke has faced some fitness issues at the club and the English attacker has failed to live up to expectations since joining the club from Bournemouth.

According to reports, Agehowa is currently happy to remain at Porto and continue his development, but if a top club approached him with a move next year, he would be excited and willing to consider the opportunity.

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:

“It’s not just Newcastle[who are interested in Agehowa]it’s going to be interesting.

“Newcastle had their eyes on him when they were looking to replace Alexander Isak before they brought in Nick Waltemaid, so obviously he’s on their list.

“Tottenham are interested in him, although I don’t think it’s their top priority after bringing in Woltemade and Ouissa.

“Arsenal and Villa are also interested in Agejova, so I think a lot of clubs will be interested in the big striker in the summer and Porto could have to fight really hard to keep him.”

The 21-year-old joined FC Porto from Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2024 and has been sensational since then.

Sam Agekhova scored 27 goals in all competitions in his debut season and quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific young forwards. His outstanding performance continues into the current campaign.

The three-cap Spain international almost completed his move to Chelsea last year after agreeing personal terms, but the move fell through after he failed a medical check due to an ankle injury.

Agehowa’s current contract includes a €100m (£88m) release clause, a figure that reflects Porto’s determination to retain their star striker.

Tottenham have continued to struggle in front of goal after signing Matthijs Tell, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohamed Kudus over the summer.
