Euro giants believe they can sign Aston Villa star for bargain price

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, and it is thought they could strike a deal on the cheap.

Konsa has been a key player for Villa in recent years and has also broken into the England squad.

According to L’Interista, Inter are said to be interested in the 28-year-old, who could cost just €35 million, potentially sealing a big move for him to one of Europe’s elite teams.

Konsa certainly looks like he could step up to play for a team like Inter and is likely to be tempted by the opportunity, but that could spell bad news for Villa’s hopes of keeping him.

Villa have been under pressure to sign players under the Premier League’s PSR laws and have had some frustrations in recent transfer windows.

This led to AVFC selling Douglas Luiz to Juventus last summer, John Duran to Al Nasr in January, and then Jacob Ramsey being sold to Newcastle United this year.

Konsa isn’t getting any younger, so it might make sense for Villa to sign him now, even if €35 million isn’t that much for a player so important in Unai Emery’s side.

Villa fans will no doubt want Konsa to stay, but Inter’s interest is definitely a concern and it will be interesting to see how this story develops in the coming weeks and months.

If Villa end up selling Konsa for €35 million, it could free up funds to buy a defensive replacement, but it certainly won’t be easy to find someone who can replicate what he brought to the team.
