Liverpool are reportedly the clear favorites to secure a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehy, with Real Madrid expected to be out of the race.

The England international is nearing the end of his contract with Palace and will become a free agent in time for next summer’s transfer window.

As previously reported, catch off sideLiverpool remain confident of signing Guehi after missing out on him in the summer.

There doesn’t seem to be much change in Guehi’s situation, with AS reporting that the Reds are his most likely next destination despite interest from other clubs.

The Spanish newspaper says that even if Los Blancos were interested, a move to Real Madrid looks virtually impossible given the player’s wage demands.

One imagines there may be more twists and turns in this story, but overall it appears Guehi remains focused on Liverpool as his next club.

LFC came very close to signing the 25-year-old in the summer before Palace canceled the deal at the last minute, but it looks like his wishes of a move to Anfield may still be granted.

However, AS has also mentioned Bayern Munich, so it will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich can still hijack the deal at some point in the coming months.

Will Marc Gehi replace Ibrahima Konate?

AS have mentioned that Real Madrid are interested in other centre-backs, one of which is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, and another who is entering the final months of his contract.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will likely be able to convince Konate to sign a new contract, but if Konate does end up leaving for free, replacing him with another free agent in Guehi would seem like ideal business.

Konate is a key player for Liverpool, but Guehi is also a top talent with a proven track record in the Premier League, so the Frenchman will not be missed.
