Chelsea have contacted Real Madrid regarding the transfer of Brazilian star Rodrygo.
This comes from a transfer source who gained a reputation for accurate insider information over the summer.
Sources say Chelsea have been in contact with Real Madrid regarding Rodrygo and the club are keen to conclude a deal in January or during the summer.
The account reported to X: “Exclusive! Chelsea are in direct contact with Real Madrid. Subject: Rodrygo. Chelsea intend to sign a deal in January or summer. Confirmed!”
Rodrigo Goes has been in demand since the summer
The Brazilian was one of the hottest signings this summer, with a number of Premier League clubs interested in the 24-year-old.
Arsenal are the club with the strongest links with him, with Mikel Arteta looking to strengthen the left side of his attack.
He was seen as the perfect replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, who was rumored to be leaving the club.
Liverpool are also looking to sign Rodrygo as a replacement for Luis Diaz on the left, with the Colombian set to move to Bayern Munich.
However, despite the link, the player ended up remaining in Madrid. However, the player’s situation at the Spanish club has not improved and links to his departure remain open until the January transfer window.
Chelsea have now emerged as favorites to sign Rodrygo, with previous reports suggesting the Blues could end his contract for half the amount Madrid were asking for in the summer.
And Enzo Maresca’s team now appear to have made the first move to secure his contract, making initial contact with the European giants.
However, he faces competition from London rivals Tottenham, who are said to be keen on signing the player.
Rodirgo’s impressive performance at Real Madrid
Rodrygo remains one of Madrid’s most talented attackers, although his playing time has significantly decreased following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.
His most appealing attribute is his versatility, with Rodrigo able to play multiple positions behind the striker as well as in the front three.
Rodrigo has played around 280 games for Real Madrid, scoring 68 goals and providing 43 assists, and his goal contribution speaks for itself.
