West Ham continue to suffer from long-standing striker problems. Nuno Espirito Santo currently has Niklas Furkrug and Callum Wilson as senior options, but neither have made an impact so far this season.
West Ham are therefore expected to look to sign a new striker when the transfer window reopens in January. They have started identifying potential targets, and one target that has emerged in recent weeks is AC Milan marksman Santiago Jimenez.
West Ham offer opportunity to sign Santiago Jimenez
Jimenez is slowly losing his reputation at Milan and has had a difficult start to the season, scoring just one goal in 11 games in all competitions. This presents an opportunity for West Ham, with Claret and Hugh reporting that the Rossoneri are open to a swap deal for Fullkrug, who they see as a low-risk option given the Mexican number nine and his solid track record in the Bundesliga.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Fullkrug’s future lies away from West Ham. It is clear that he is not the man to lead the charge at the London Stadium, so it would be best for all parties if he is asked to leave in January. Milan would be a good move for him and, as long as Jimenez himself welcomes a move to the Premier League, he could quickly add a replacement to Nuno’s squad.
Jimenez has previously attracted interest from Chelsea and there is no doubt they have a player there. West Ham could be the team to get him fit and rekindled as they aim to move out of the Premier League relegation zone in the second half of the season.
