Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Koby Mainu.
The 20-year-old is highly regarded in England and has a bright future ahead of him. However, he has struggled to earn regular minutes at Manchester United. He needs to leave the club to play more often and Leeds could be ready to offer him an exit route.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United are prepared to sanction his departure. Although he is not a key player for them, he is a talented player and a useful member of the team.
Leeds, on the other hand, will be hoping for better results in the coming months after a disappointing start to the season. The Premier League will aim to ensure safety, but improvements are needed in the center of the park. The 20-year-old could be a great acquisition for them.
Dean Jones feels a move to Leeds is unlikely for Mynou.
“I don’t think there’s much chance of Mainu moving to Leeds, but I think he’s stuck at the moment,” Jones told TEAMtalk.
“I don’t really understand why you would bring him into a team like Leeds in January, but you don’t get much benefit from it and the player is probably looking for something bigger than that, and there’s still a rivalry and history between the two clubs.”
Mainu needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and it will be interesting to see if he can force his way to the starting line. If Manchester United are unable to provide him with the opportunities he needs, he will eventually consider forcing him to leave.
Leeds want to survive in the Premier League and need quality reinforcements in January.
