Chelsea are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
The 21-year-old is one of the best young talents in the Premier League and has been linked with several clubs. According to Fichajes, Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign him. Convincing Crystal Palace to sell the player will not be easy and they may have to pay a premium.
Adam Wharton will complete the midfield.
Chelsea have already spent big on signing Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo. They are looking to build a world-class midfield unit and signing Wharton could take it to a whole new level.
The 21-year-old will help control the game from deep and will also contribute defensively. He has all the ingredients to develop into a world-class player. In theory, a midfield of Fernandes, Caicedo and Wharton could be technically and technically perfect.
Chelsea want to dominate English football for years to come and signing the 21-year-old would be a step in the right direction. However, the opportunity to join Chelsea would also be attractive for the player. It will be a step up for him and he will be playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
He wants to fight for big trophies on a regular basis and Chelsea could offer him that platform. Wharton has been described as a player who is “fun to play with.”
Wharton would be an expensive addition.
Wharton is a phenomenal player and Chelsea will have to pay a huge amount of money to make the deal happen. It will be interesting to see if they decide to test the waters with a lucrative offer at the end of the season.
Several other clubs are also in contention for him, and Chelsea could be drawn into the fray this summer.
