Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike warm up for Liverpool (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)
Former Liverpool player Don Hutchison believes Mohamed Salah should replace summer signings Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
So far, the trio have not started a game together and Hutchison believes manager Arne Slott may have to make an unpleasant decision and leave the Egypt international out in order to include them in the starting XI.
He also suggested that Liverpool should consider using them together between now and the end of the season, allowing them to build some chemistry and regain form and confidence.
Liverpool request release of Mo Salah
Hutchison told TEAMtalk: “You’ll really want to play with all three of those players from now until the end of the season, get them going, score goals, get that chemistry going and play to try and move up in the league. I know it’s a big jump from now until the end of the season, but that’s what’s going to happen for Liverpool as a team and as individuals. That’s what I’ll be looking at.”
“So the uncomfortable conversation is about why we don’t have Mo Salah in that team anymore and how. Maybe the African Cup of Nations is the time to test that!”
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to let Salah go in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that he is a legend at the club, but his performances this season have been very mediocre. He’s not in his best form right now, so it might be ideal to remove him from the lineup.
Salah is likely to leave the club
There are also rumors that the Egyptian player could leave the club at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if he decides to transfer in the summer. There is no doubt that he has been an exceptional servant to the club, but with Liverpool looking to build for the future, now may be the right time for all parties to go their separate ways.
Salah has not only been the club’s best scorer since joining the club, but his hard-working style of play has also earned him the reputation of manager Jurgen Klopp as a ‘key player’. It will not be easy to remove him from the starting line and it remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
