Liverpool have reportedly sent scouts to track RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande, who is fast becoming one of the hottest young talents in European football.
The Reds will be relieved to have a break from international matches. It’s been a miserable month or so for Arne Slott’s side. They have lost five of their last six Premier League games, only to be humiliated by superior Manchester City. Over the course of 11 games of the new season, the champion’s crown not only slipped, but crumbled.
Slott must turn things around after FSG spent more than £400m twice breaking Liverpool’s transfer record in the summer. The Dutchman will be given time to do that – Liverpool are never a team that makes hasty decisions – but the pressure on the Dutchman is certainly mounting.
A solution could come with more spending in the January transfer window. There has been something missing from the current squad so far this season, and Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes could potentially adjust their strategy as the Premier League becomes more physical.
Liverpool’s struggles have already sparked some rumors ahead of the winter window. Antoine Semenyo and Wilfried Shingo have been mentioned as potential reinforcements, but it remains to be seen whether the Reds will spend big money again.
Semenyo is sure to add a new attacking spark to a talented front line that is currently struggling to maintain form. The arrival of a man whose goals at Anfield need no explanation could go a long way towards resolving the slot issue. Meanwhile, Edwards and Hughes are also looking to the future and the people who will influence them in the coming years.
Liverpool send scouts to track down Yann Diomande
Germany’s Bild newspaper reports that a Liverpool scout was spotted watching Diomande from RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old winger has impressed in the Bundesliga this season, scoring three goals and providing a further three assists in 10 league games, and as a result has attracted interest from Anfield as well as PSG.
The teenager is not lacking in confidence or ambition and compared himself to Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior when speaking to reporters about his current role model at Transfermarkt.
“Compared to that, I think Vinicius Junior is the best player. When it comes to mindset, my role model is Kylian Mbappé. I think you have to have a good mentality. If your heart and mind are okay, then you’re okay overall. That’s what I try to work on the most.”
But leftists themselves are not the only ones who believe in their own abilities. Talent scout Jacek Kulig praised Diomande, saying he is enjoying “fantastic” form that has attracted the likes of Liverpool and PSG in recent months.
