  • Paqueta leaving?

West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old is looking for a new challenge and is ready to leave the club in January. Boravip reports that West Ham are open to negotiating the player’s departure in January, with a verbal agreement in place between the club and the player. It remains to be seen whether any club will come forward and pay his asking price.

The paper also claims that Brazilian club Flamengo are interested in signing him. They are willing to pay up to 30 million euros to get the deal done. It will be interesting to see whether West Ham are prepared to allow him to leave. For a player of his quality, a €30m transfer fee could be a bargain. However, this is a significant amount for a South American club and it is highly unlikely that they will be able to pay much more than that. West Ham will need to respond reasonably to their demands in order to make the transfer happen.

The 28-year-old has been outstanding for West Ham since joining the club and there is no doubt that he is one of the club’s best players. His departure in January will be a blow to the club. However, the player has decided to leave and it is unlikely that the London club will keep him against his wishes. It remains to be seen whether they will respect the verbal agreement between the two sides and decide to move him when the transfer window reopens.

Meanwhile, West Ham will also need to bring in a top-class player to replace him.
