  • Manchester United face Borussia Dortmund over Kevin Filling transfer
  • Could Manchester United strengthen for the future with a Kevin Filling deal?

Manchester United are still trying to win the transfer race for AIK’s wonderkid forward Kevin Villing, according to Florian Plettenberg.

However, with Borussia Dortmund also competing with the Red Devils for the talented 16-year-old, the battle for Filling’s signature appears to be heating up in earnest.

Plettenberg posted about the situation on X’s official account and said that Filing could end up leaving AIK in the upcoming January transfer window, so see below for more details…

Plettenberg posted: “Borussia Dortmund are currently in the race to sign Kevin.” #filling. Sebastian Kehl wants a talented 16-year-old striker. #BVB Manchester United are still in the process of signing Filling, but have not yet reached an agreement with any club. #MUFC Filling could leave AIK as early as this winter. ”

This is not the first time reports have been linked between Filling and Man United, with the same source reporting a few weeks ago that concrete talks were taking place.

However, this does not seem to be an easy deal for MUFC, although Dortmund will undoubtedly be seen as another attractive destination for such a talented young player.

Could Manchester United strengthen for the future with a Kevin Filling deal?

United haven’t had the best recruitment strategy in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, but deals like this one are perhaps a sign that things are improving.

It’s becoming increasingly important to sign the best young players in the game before their value explodes, and if they can win the race to fill the void, they could do a great job for the club.

The Swedish youth international looks like he has a big future ahead of him and it would be great for United if he could develop at Old Trafford rather than end up at a club like Dortmund and then move on for a hefty fee.
