New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has openly acknowledged the difficulties his team has encountered this MLB season, emphasizing that his players are “getting through it.”

The Mets recently endured a challenging stretch, experiencing their first three-game losing streak of the year after matchups against the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. Their latest game ended in a 2-0 defeat to the Red Sox, where they failed to score, underscoring the offensive struggles they face. Notably, the Mets have not allowed more than two runs in each of their last three losses but managed only two walks and four hits in the recent game against Boston. Over the past seven games, the team has scored just 10 runs and hasn’t surpassed two runs in each of the last three games. Star player Juan Soto, who has played in five of these games, seems to require additional support from his teammates. Moreover, it has been six games since their last home run, hit by Brett Batty in a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 14.

Manager Carlos Mendoza has openly commented on the team’s current struggles, especially on the offensive front, mentioning that the players are “getting through it.” He stated, “We’re going through it right now, there’s no question about it. We’re having a hard time putting guys in consistently, and when we get them in, we’re having a hard time getting them in and being offensive. We’re going through it right now.” Despite the setbacks, Mendoza remains optimistic and encourages perseverance, saying, “It’s what happens. We have to keep fighting, we have to keep working, we have to stay positive. We just have to turn the page. It may not sound right, but that’s what we have to do. We have to keep fighting.”

Fan Take: This situation is crucial for baseball fans as it highlights the resilience needed in a competitive sport like MLB, showing that even talented teams can face slumps.
