Manager Josep Guardiola has expressed confidence in Manchester City’s ability to compete for all four titles this season, as long as they can stay injury-free.

Before Christmas, City will face matches in the Premier League, Champions League, and EFL Cup, followed by the FA Cup third round in January.

Last season, injuries severely impacted the squad, making it difficult for City to perform. However, Guardiola believes the current squad depth provides the strength needed to contend in all competitions.

“If we keep adapting the team, we’ll compete in every match and every tournament,” Guardiola stated in a press conference on Friday.

“There’s no doubt about it. Last season we failed to qualify for any competitions.

“Injuries will inevitably happen, I understand that. However, I feel capable of competing in any tournament, and as long as I’m strong, I will rise to the challenge. I’ll certainly make the attempt.”

Guardiola is likely to be without Rodri and Mateo Kovacic for the upcoming match against Newcastle.

Kovacic is sidelined after having surgery on an Achilles tendon injury and will now miss even more time following an additional ankle operation, as confirmed by Guardiola.

“He showed remarkable determination and played through pain prior to the surgery, but he couldn’t continue,” Guardiola commented.

“It’s normal to deal with discomfort, but I’m not at the level I was before the operation, and I’m hoping for a smooth recovery.”
