Flavien Prat Dominates Suidobashi Sunday with Five Thrilling Victories

Eclipse Award-winning jockey Flavien Prat dominated the races at Aqueduct Racecourse on Sunday, securing five victories out of nine contests, including commanding wins in two stakes races. This success boosted his total to 14 wins at Ozone Park Oval for the week.

Prat, who revealed plans in September to ride full-time in New York this winter, shared his appreciation for the recent streak of triumphs. “It’s been a fantastic week,” said Prat, represented by agent Brad Pegram. “I’ve had great horses to ride all week, and they’ve really performed well. I’m hopeful this positive momentum will keep going.”

He kicked off the day by guiding George Weaver’s horse to a win, followed by a victory with the state-bred maiden Kramer in race two, marking the start of a natural hat-trick. Next came another maiden winner, New York Scrappy, ridden by Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse, and then the first of two stakes wins with Oversubscribed in race four, trained by the five-time Eclipse Award-winning Chad Brown, who took home the $150,000 Forever Together stakes.

Prat returned to victory in race eight, winning the Grade 3 Pebbles Stakes with Fast Market, earning trainer John Terranova his first stakes win in the final turf race of the Empire State season. The day concluded with Prat’s fifth win aboard Aparta in the ninth and final race, securing Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher’s first nine-furlong victory.

Previously, on November 2, Prat set a New York Racing Association (NYRA) circuit single-day record by winning seven out of 10 rides at the Big A. After Sunday’s races, he boasts 31 wins, outpacing second-place Manny Franco by 17 wins, and holds a commanding lead in the Aqueduct Fall Tournament jockey standings.

Fan Take: Flavien Prat’s extraordinary run not only highlights his exceptional talent but also injects excitement into the Aqueduct meet, drawing more attention to the sport. His dominance could inspire a fierce jockey rivalry and elevate the profile of New York racing this season.
