Moritz Seider: Feeling Blessed and Thankful for a Strong, Healthy Career Kickoff

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider has established himself as one of the NHL’s most reliable players, setting a new team record during the Red Wings’ 100th anniversary season. Seider kicked off his NHL journey last week by playing his 346th consecutive game, breaking the long-standing franchise record of 345 games held by former forward John Ogrodnick. He played a pivotal role in Detroit’s thrilling 4-3 overtime comeback win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring the tying goal in the third period with an impressive shot.

Seider expressed pride in his consistency and credited hard work during the offseason and good health for his endurance, saying, “I’m very proud of being available… I’m blessed to be healthy and able to go out there and compete every night.” Reflecting on his first season in 2021-22, Seider described the experience as thrilling yet mentally taxing, noting the challenges of adapting to new cities and the demanding game schedule compared to his time in German and Swedish leagues.

Not only did Seider meet these challenges head-on, but he also earned the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie and quickly became Detroit’s leading defenseman. His commitment was further cemented with an eight-year contract extension before the previous season started.

This milestone is significant because it highlights Seider’s durability and exceptional talent early in his career, providing hope and excitement for Red Wings fans. For hockey enthusiasts, his achievement underlines how the next generation of players is rising to shape the sport’s future with resilience and skill.
