  • Wolves could lose Joao Gomez in January
  • ‘Incredible’ Lopez is yet to prove himself in England
        • Wolves star says yes to joining Manchester United, INEOS working on deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently in talks to leave another key player, Joao Gomez, who is believed to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

Wolves could lose Joao Gomez in January

Gomez has recently emerged as a transfer target for United, with Ruben Amorim’s side keen to sign the Portuguese midfielder this winter, with a fee of 50 million euros (approximately 4.4 billion yen) being touted.

It would certainly be a risk for the Old Gold to let one of their key players go, given they have picked up just two points from their opening 12 games and their Premier League status is already under serious threat.

However, given the central midfielder’s value will decline if Rob Edwards’ side are unable to avoid a decline, it may make sense to cash out and reinvest that money in other areas of the squad.

Gomez isn’t the only Wolves player who could be on the move in January. It was revealed on X’s podcast Tenias Que Haber Tirado that Celta Vigo are currently “considering the return” of former player Fer López, who only arrived at Molineux in June.

The La Liga club have held talks about a loan move in the upcoming transfer window, but given that López hasn’t had a smooth start in the Premier League, this could make sense for all parties…

Wolves would have had high hopes after signing the attacking midfielder in the summer, given former coach Paul Grainger raved: “I’ve watched some of the best players in the world play soccer. I’ve never seen a soccer player like him. He was literally unbelievable. I knew from day one he was going to be a superstar.”

However, the 21-year-old is yet to reach those heights, having started just one Premier League game this season, the 3-1 home defeat to Leeds United, and has not received any minutes since the 2-0 defeat at Sunderland last month.

What a great contract he’s going to get.

To be fair, the Spaniard was one of the few players to impress by scoring Wanderers’ only goal against Leeds, and as he is still young and adjusting to life in the Premier League, it would be too early to confirm a permanent move.

However, if Lopez is not in Edwards’ plans, there is little reason to keep him and a loan move in the January transfer window could make sense for all parties.
