Manchester United remain keen to sign Conor Gallagher despite Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell.
Conor Gallagher’s future has been a hot topic of conversation as he no longer plays a key role at Atletico Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone.
Manchester United are well aware of his situation and Fichajes reports that Ruben Amorim’s side are keen to sign him to strengthen their squad.
Conor Gallagher faces lack of game time
Atletico Madrid are reluctant to part ways with the England international midway through the season, but Manchester United remain persistent in their pursuit of Gallagher.
The 25-year-old midfielder played a decent role in the team last season, but appears to have fallen down the pecking order this season. The former Chelsea star has appeared in 18 games in all competitions but has been on the pitch for just 625 minutes.
His lack of regular game time has sparked interest from England. Manchester United are one of the most serious suitors. Amorim believes he is a good fit for his system and believes his experience playing in the English top flight will be helpful.
What would it take to sign Gallagher?
Despite his diminished role, Spanish clubs are reluctant to part ways with him. It is unlikely that they will allow him to leave on loan in the winter, and the only way for the player to leave is if he ends up receiving an offer of around 30 million euros.
Amorim is desperate for more quality in the center of the park and, given Manchester United’s tenacity, will no doubt be looking to meet Atletico Madrid’s demands. However, the player could support a move as it would give him a better indication of his place in England’s World Cup squad.
