A player has issued an apology and received a fine from his club for mocking the appearance of fellow athlete Angelo Stiller.

The Go Ahead Eagles penalized their player, Victor Edvardsen, following an incident involving Stuttgart’s Stiller during a match on Wednesday.

Edvardsen’s actions led to significant disruption among players on the field.

“I want to express my regret for my behavior yesterday,” Edvardsen stated on Thursday.

“Inappropriate comments and actions occurred between us that have no place in football.”

“After the match, I visited Stuttgart’s locker room to extend my apologies. I recognize my responsibility to set a good example and must act accordingly.”

The Dutch club has imposed a fine of 500 euros ($580, £438) on Edvardsen, which will be donated to the club’s social initiatives.

In the same match, Stuttgart triumphed over Go Ahead Eagles with a score of 4-0 in the Europa League.

Stiller is one of seven midfielders currently under consideration by Manchester United.

Manchester United aims to bolster their central midfield, evaluating Stiller along with other potential players, according to a source from ESPN.

Stiller, a 24-year-old midfielder who rose through Bayern Munich’s youth ranks, gained recognition at Hoffenheim before joining Stuttgart, where he has earned five caps for the German national team.
