At Ball Arena on Saturday, Brock Nelson showcased an outstanding performance by scoring two goals and assisting on two others, leading the Avalanche to a commanding 7-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Gabriel Landeskog also netted two goals, while Brent Burns, Nathan MacKinnon, and Devon Toews each contributed notably. Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood maintained her strong form, stopping 17 of 19 shots. Nelson has now amassed 11 points over his last nine games.

The team’s depth shone through with Martin Nechas registering three assists and Artturi Lehkonen adding two. This win brings Colorado’s record to an impressive 18-1-6, the best in the league. For Montreal, Ivan Demidov and Lane Hutson found the back of the net, while Jakub Dobeš made 29 saves in defeat.

Nelson’s game was highlighted by a slick wrist shot after a clean play from Lehkonen, marking his 600th career point. A disputed goal initially credited to Nelson was reassigned to Landeskog after league review confirmed his contact with the puck. Brent Burns’ goal tied him with Nicklas Lidstrom for ninth place on the all-time defensemen scoring list. Nelson also played a pivotal role in another goal by Nechas, demonstrating his continued impact on the ice.

Montreal briefly responded with a goal by Matvei Demidov but the Avalanche swiftly regained control. In a fast-paced sequence, Landeskog scored again after a smart pass from Cale Makar, with MacKinnon securing the rebound. Devon Toews netted his first goal of the season, extending the lead further.

Montreal managed another goal on the power play, but Colorado answered with one of their own when Landeskog scored off a rebound following MacKinnon’s penalty kill. The Avalanche next face the Vancouver Canucks on Dec. 2 at Ball Arena, with coverage starting at 7pm local time.
