Bayern Munich insider Christian Falk has given an insight into how Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate could be linked with a move to the Allianz Arena.
For now, Bayern’s top priority seems to be getting another top defender, Dayot Upamecano, out of contract.
According to CF Bayern Insider Falk, Bayern are fully committed to tying Upamecano to a new deal and have no intention of signing Konate or any other defensive targets if the Frenchman stays.
As reported here, Liverpool face a battle to keep Konate, as he only has a few months left on his contract and has attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Konate could be a decent option for Bayern, but that seems likely only if Upamecano eventually leaves.
Christian Falk talks about Ibrahima Konate’s possible move to Bayern Munich
In his latest report, Falk said: “Bayern are fully committed to securing a contract extension for Upamecano.
“That is their only priority. Even if the French defender signs a new contract with Bayern, they will not move for either Konate or Gehi.”
He added: “So the possibility of signing Konate is not completely ruled out, but it depends on a number of factors.”
Liverpool fans are hoping this increases the chances of Konate signing a new contract, but it remains to be seen whether Konate will be satisfied with this late stage, as no deal has been reached so far.
Will Liverpool and Bayern trade again?
Last summer we saw Luis Diaz leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich, and perhaps Konate could follow his former teammate to Bayern as well.
In addition, LFC have also been linked with Michael Oliseh, with Bayern expected to do everything they can to keep hold of the talented French winger.
Liverpool’s Codi Gakpo is also a target for Bayern, while Ryan Grabenbirch moved to Anfield from the Allianz Arena a few years ago.
