Leicester City have made a disastrous start to the league campaign and are 15th in the table.
They are fighting for survival and Martí Cifuentes has been heavily criticized.
The manager is currently under a lot of pressure and there are rumors that he could be fired. According to Football Insider, if his performance doesn’t improve quickly, he could soon tell his manager he’s out.
Recent wins have eased the pressure on the manager, but the Foxes’ disappointing performance against Southampton has put Sifuentes back in the spotlight. It will be interesting to see if he can get the best out of his players in the coming weeks.
Report: Leicester City ace, 27, could move in January
Marti Sifuentes is under the scanner
Pete O’Rourke claims: “Again, the back-to-back wins against Norwich and Stoke in recent weeks have obviously taken the pressure off him.
“That took the pressure off him, but again we had a disappointing result against Southampton in midweek, which left Leicester 15th.
“The fact is that although they may be at the bottom of the table, the Championship is very close and they are still only three points out of the play-off places.
“If you win a few times, you’ll move up the rankings quickly, but if you lose a few more times, you’ll fall down the rankings.
“Obviously, another defeat for Cifuentes would increase the pressure on him. No one expected this. Leicester are in 15th place at this stage of the season.”
Is Sifuentes preparing to be sacked?
The Foxes don’t seem to have any more patience with him. If your grades don’t improve, you’ll be forced to make a decision. It will be interesting to see if they can replace him with a quality manager. A prestigious club like them is expected to fight for promotion in the Championship, but this season ended in a very disappointing result.
There is no doubt that they have players who will perform better than they have this season. Managers must also take some of the responsibility. However, the players also need to improve their performance levels.
It remains to be seen how the results will change in the coming weeks. If Leicester continue to underperform, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a decision made before the January deadline.
