Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has long been recognized as one of the greatest playmakers in NHL history. However, he continues to shine as a goal scorer as well.

In Friday’s 4-3 overtime victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Crosby scored two goals, tying Dave Andrejczak’s record of 640 career points and moving into the NHL’s top 15 all-time scorers. Right behind him is Brendan Shanahan with 656 points.

At 38 years old and in his 21st NHL season, Crosby is among the league’s top five goal scorers. He is on pace to achieve a career-best 53 goals this year and is also projected to reach 89 points, marking his 21st straight season with an average of over one point per game.

Throughout his career, Crosby has amassed 640 goals and 1,712 points. He is just 12 points shy of surpassing Mario Lemieux’s franchise scoring record and entering the top eight all-time NHL scorers.

Fan Take: Sidney Crosby’s continued excellence at this stage in his career not only cements his legacy as one of the game’s greatest but also inspires the next generation of players. His pursuit of historic milestones keeps fans engaged and showcases the enduring skill and dedication required to excel in professional hockey.
