On Saturday in Birmingham, England, Molly McCann secured her second professional boxing victory by defeating Ebony Cotton on points. The referee, Ryan Churchill, scored the fight 58-56 in favor of McCann, now holding a record of 2-0 with one knockout.

The six-round bout was intense from the start. McCann controlled the early stages with quick movements and numerous punches, although Cotton’s unpredictable style made her a tricky opponent. As the match progressed, McCann’s punch combinations became sharper, and her left hook posed significant challenges for Cotton, who now stands at 1-1.

Cotton fought back aggressively, landing a strong left jab and some powerful shots in the fourth round, despite a cut on his head that caused bleeding. By the fourth round, both fighters were visibly exhausted, engaging in grappling that ended with both briefly collapsing to the canvas.

The relentless pace and determination from both fighters made the match exciting, with McCann ultimately earning a deserved victory. From start to finish, neither boxer relented, continuously exchanging blows.

McCann, previously an MMA competitor with 14 fights in the UFC, retired from mixed martial arts in March and has since switched to boxing. Her boxing debut was a convincing win against Kate Radomska, ending in a sixth-round stoppage in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Fan Take: Molly McCann’s successful transition from UFC to boxing is a thrilling development for fight fans, demonstrating versatility and skill across combat sports. Her rise could inspire more fighters to explore cross-disciplinary opportunities, potentially raising the profile and competitiveness of both MMA and boxing.
