Next, in the second division of the Handicap Hurdle at the Festive Dining event at Western House Hotel, King Grease, a 4-11 favorite, won even more convincingly despite a two-length margin. Elliott commented on the close finish but emphasized the importance of the win. King Grease marked Elliott’s debut after three runs under Patrick Morris, earning a 77 rating. Elliott praised the horse’s potential, calling him underrated and expressing hope for more wins. Elliott and Bowen then completed the day’s success by winning the final with Broadway Ted, who performed steadily at 9-4 odds.
The only defeat for Elliott came from Stead Bonnet, who was outperformed by Nicky Richards’ Upon Tweed, the 1-4 favorite, in the Christmas Novices’ Hurdle at Western House Hotel. Richards, extending his horse’s undefeated streak to three, noted that a faster pace might have shown more impressive jumping and expressed optimism about the horse’s future.
