Make no mistake, the Reds are struggling to repeat anything like their Premier League exploits last season, and Arne Slott is under pressure as Liverpool look to get their current campaign back on track.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique and others continue to be floated as possible candidates to replace the Dutchman, but Didi Hamann told Sky German he believes the former Feyenoord manager has work to do to restore the dressing room to its usual level of cohesion.
“I think Arne Slott has lost control of the team. The team is falling apart and everyone is doing what they want, like Salah before PSV’s second goal,” he said.
“Liverpool will have big problems if they are to finish in the top four of the Premier League. I don’t think these problems will be resolved quickly or easily. The situation is very complex and the club will definitely discuss the manager’s post.”
Regardless of whether there is any truth to Hamann’s comments, January provides a much-needed lifeline in terms of recruitment, and Liverpool are expected to be proactive on that front.

Liverpool’s admiration for the player is so great that they are expected to actually launch a bid to secure his services. An offer of around £52.5m could be enough to secure a deal for the France international.
Described by analyst Raj Chohan as a “dueling monster”, Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring his situation, which is no surprise as the versatile 23-year-old can play as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder or even on the left wing at Roque Blancos.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also tracking his progress. However, Real Madrid are not actively considering selling the player at this time, despite discussions taking place over his long-term role, with Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Choameny and Federico Valverde all competing with the Frenchman for a spot in the engine room.
Described by Xabi Alonso as having “immense potential”, he may be set to take on a new challenge as he develops under the Spanish manager and his talent grows in admiration.
Liverpool have found it difficult to get along with top-flight teams this season, but Camavinga’s move to England would likely take them to a new level.
