Anthony Davis showcases exceptional talent and leadership abilities on the basketball court, but his injury history has always been a concern. The Dallas Mavericks are hopeful that the frequently sidelined power forward can maintain his health and deliver performances like his recent 32-point, 13-rebound game against the Denver Nuggets. This strong effort marked his return after missing 14 games due to a knee injury. At 32 years old, Davis aims to replicate this form as the Mavericks (7-15) face off against the Miami Heat (14-7) at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Mavericks secured consecutive road wins for the first time this season by splitting a four-game road trip following a 131-121 victory in Denver. Miami, despite ending a six-game winning streak with a loss to the Detroit Pistons, rebounded with a 140-123 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Wednesday’s NBA slate also includes eight other games, along with five NHL matchups.

In NHL action, the Washington Capitals (16-9-2) will battle the unexpectedly strong San Jose Sharks (13-11-3) at the SAP Center at 10 p.m. ET. Washington seeks a sixth consecutive victory and aims to sweep the four-game series. San Jose has defied past seasons’ struggles, boasting a much-improved record this year.

College basketball fans can look forward to an exciting showdown between No. 6 Louisville (7-0) and No. 25 Arkansas (5-2) at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, starting at 7:15 p.m. ET. Louisville faces its first true road game while Arkansas remains undefeated at home.

The Heat are favored by 5.5 points against the Mavericks, Capitals are -155 favorites over the Sharks, and Louisville holds a 3.5-point edge over Arkansas, according to the latest betting odds.

Additional matchups include the Anaheim Ducks hosting the struggling Mammoths at 10 p.m. on TNT, with the Ducks projected to win about 58% of the time. Although the Capitals are viewed as favorites, SportsLine expert Bruce Marshall backs the Sharks to at least cover the spread, noting San Jose’s strong recent home performance.

In college hoops, the Louisville-Arkansas contest is expected to have fewer points than projected, with both teams frequently scoring below their averages.

Fan Take: Hockey fans should keep an eye on the Capitals-Sharks series, which highlights the thrilling turnaround of a once-struggling franchise. These types of competitive matchups boost excitement in the NHL and showcase the sport’s growing parity, making every game a must-watch.
