Joe Rogan’s UFC Journey Takes a Surprising Turn After 28 Years – A First-Time Experience He Swears ‘Never Happened’

Joe Rogan, a veteran in the world of MMA for almost three decades, rarely witnesses anything that surprises him. The iconic UFC commentator began his journey with the sport’s top promotion back in 1997. Nearly 30 years later, he was once again behind the microphone at UFC 323 in Las Vegas this past Saturday.

During the event, Joe Rogan experienced an unusual moment after the light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz and Bogdan Guskov. The fight ended in a rare majority draw after a grueling 15-minute back-and-forth battle, prompting confusion when Rogan attempted to enter the Octagon for the typical post-fight interview but was denied access. Reflecting on the situation with fellow commentators Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik, Rogan admitted he had never encountered such a scenario before.

In the co-main event, Rogan showed visible distress watching flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja suffer a quick TKO loss due to an arm injury against Joshua Bunn, which occurred just 26 seconds into the fight. Pantoja appeared to dislocate his elbow during a fall, leaving Rogan troubled by the severity of the injury. UFC’s chief physician, Dr. Jeff Davidson, later explained to Megan Olivi that Pantoja’s shoulder had been dislocated but had spontaneously reduced, meaning it returned to its normal position without intervention. Despite this explanation, Rogan was skeptical, recalling how clearly he saw the elbow come out of joint. UFC President Dana White confirmed the medical update in the post-fight press conference.

Fan Take: This unusual post-fight situation and serious injury highlight the unpredictable nature of MMA, reminding fans of the physical risks fighters face every time they step into the Octagon. It underscores the importance of medical vigilance and clear communication in the sport, which could lead to improved safety protocols in future events.
