Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris share remarkable similarities, both clinching their first Formula 1 World Championships with McLaren. Norris secured the 2025 F1 world title by finishing third in the season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, edging out Max Verstappen of Red Bull by two points. This victory crowns Norris as the 35th F1 world champion in the sport’s 75-year history and the 11th British driver to achieve this feat. It also marks McLaren’s first drivers’ title since Hamilton’s win in 2008.

Both drivers have mirrored each other’s path throughout the season: winning the opening race in Australia on March 16th, securing their second win in Monaco on May 25th, retiring from crashes at the Canadian Grand Prix, and winning their first British Grand Prix on July 6th. Like Hamilton, Norris won his first world title during the final race of the season.

In the lead-up to the decisive Abu Dhabi race, seven-time world champion Hamilton offered Norris some valuable advice: to keep doing what was working and to take it one corner at a time. Hamilton expressed pride in another British driver capturing the championship, praising the close competition that lasted until the very end. Norris, who grew up admiring Hamilton, appreciated the support and guidance from his idol, feeling honored to share the spotlight with him.

Fan Take: This passing of the torch from Hamilton to Norris is a thrilling narrative for racing fans, symbolizing the rise of a new British star while honoring a legendary legacy. Norris’ win not only revitalizes McLaren but also promises an exciting future for F1 with intense competition and fresh rivalries on the horizon.
