Liverpool are stepping up efforts to replace Mohamed Salah, with Michael Oliseh one of their potential targets. The former Crystal Palace winger has been in sensational form since joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024 and could be ready for a return to the Premier League.
Anfield officials are showing great interest in Olise. The deal is not cheap, but he is seen as the perfect successor to Salah, who could leave Liverpool as early as next month after falling out with Arne Slott.
It won’t be easy for Liverpool to sign Olise. This is not only because of the reported asking price, but also because the player himself may not be completely positive about joining.
Michael Oliseh keen to move to La Liga amid growing interest from Liverpool
According to TEAMtalk, Olise’s preference when leaving Bayern Munich would be either Real Madrid or Barcelona. The 24-year-old wants to keep his options open for the future and would consider a move to Liverpool, but there are other clubs who could tempt him, and given his rise through the ranks at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are said to be one of them.
Should Liverpool spend big on Michael Oliseh?
There is little doubt that Olise would be a great signing for Liverpool, but given the struggles of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak since joining from Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle respectively, they would be reluctant to shell out another £100m-plus in 2026.
It will be interesting to see how serious Liverpool are about signing Olise. In terms of competition, Real Madrid would like to work on the right side, which will be little match for Barcelona due to financial difficulties, but especially if Rodrygo Goes, one of Liverpool’s targets, leaves the Bernabéu.
