Sheffield United are reportedly interested in signing Joe Rothwell in the January transfer window.
The midfielder was in great form for Leeds United last season, but the team decided not to sign him permanently when they secured promotion to the Premier League.
Will Joe Rothwell return to England?
The player joined Rangers from Bournemouth in the last transfer window, but has struggled to make an impression in Scotland. According to Glasgow World, he wants to play regularly again and Chris Wilder is willing to offer him that opportunity at Sheffield United.
The 30-year-old has proven his quality in the Championship with clubs such as Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Southampton. There is no doubt that he could be a very useful player for Sheffield United. Wilder needs more quality in the middle of the park and the 30-year-old has the quality and experience to help them improve. His leadership skills could be invaluable to the Blades as well.
Roswell performed well in the championship.
Roswell will aim to get regular opportunities and get his career back on track. He has the quality and experience to make an immediate impact in the Championship and it remains to be seen whether he can establish himself as a key player for Sheffield United. The Rangers are unlikely to stand in his way in January. He has underperformed for them, so they will consider cutting him and bringing in an upgrade.
It will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old can secure a regular starting spot for Sheffield United in the second half of the season.
He will add control, composure and set-piece ability to the team. He was brilliant as Leeds United secured promotion to the Premier League, but he could also be a very useful signing for Sheffield United.
