  • Jamie Carragher believes Salah will leave in the summer
  • Liverpool have big decisions to make next year

Jamie Carragher has poured fresh fuel on the growing uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool, admitting it will be difficult to see the Egyptian superstar in red next season.

Speaking candidly during a wide-ranging discussion about Liverpool’s current situation, the former Reds defender suggested that the coming months could decide not only Salah’s achievements at Anfield, but also the direction of the club under mounting pressure.

The Egyptian attacker has recently been at the center of controversy after voicing concerns about the treatment of coach Arne Slott.

Salah even claimed that someone at the club was throwing him under the bus.

He was dropped after three games in the slot, but he wasn’t afraid to voice his concerns.

After negotiating peace with the club, he returned to the team and came on as a substitute in the match against Brighton.

Jamie Carragher believes Salah will leave in the summer

Carragher feels Salah will not be at Liverpool next season.

“I don’t think Mohamed Salah will play for Liverpool next season.” Carragher said on Sky Sports:

“The big thing on my mind is, will we see Mo Salah from now until the end of the season? Now we know he’s going to AFCON. AFCON will end in mid-January.”

Crucially, Carragher dismissed the idea of Salah’s romantic move to Europe.

“Mo Salah is not leaving Liverpool to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid. I was only mentioning the Saudi League.”

With Salah’s imminent departure for the African Cup of Nations, speculation has only intensified.

The 33-year-old will miss a crucial period of Liverpool’s season and could miss out on Premier League and cup competitions at a time when pressure continues to mount on manager Arne Slott.

Mr Carragher suggested that a combination of international commitments, continued tensions behind the scenes and growing interest from abroad could move all parties towards a decisive rupture.

He added: “Now, Liverpool, in the second half of the season we could be in the FA Cup final, we could be in the Champions League final… Can you imagine Mo Salah in Saudi Arabia watching Liverpool in the Champions League final?”

Salah is entering the final stages of his prime, Liverpool are balancing finances and team evolution, and the Saudi club is offering him a deal that could redefine the final chapter of his career.

Carragher’s comments reflect a growing belief within the game that absent a dramatic reconciliation and clarity regarding Salah’s role, this season could mean the end of an era at Anfield.

With Liverpool chasing silver and Salah preparing for AFCON, the coming months could decide whether one of the Premier League’s most iconic partnerships reaches its deserved conclusion or heads towards an inevitable parting.
