Anthony Joshua Unveils Crucial Adjustments Post-Daniel Dubois Defeat as He Prepares for Jake Paul Showdown

Anthony Joshua has made several adjustments in his final attempt to reclaim heavyweight boxing gold. The two-time unified heavyweight champion has always aspired to become the undisputed champion, and his upcoming fight against Jake Paul represents his last opportunity to achieve this goal. Initially, Joshua viewed the YouTube star more as a stepping stone and had planned to engage in secretive bouts with lesser-known opponents during this period.

Now, Joshua is part of a high-profile event on Netflix, which will count toward his professional record, even though it may not look impressive on paper. This move allowed him to work with a new team and implement crucial changes. Among these changes, Joshua has emphasized the importance of prayer, incorporating it as a key part of his preparation after his recent loss to Daniel Dubois.

Joshua recently held a low-profile training session in Miami and spoke to selected media about the significant changes he has made. When asked about the biggest change, he highlighted, “Probably praying more. That’s important, and I learned the importance of prayer from my team. So, yeah, it’s important to me and I pray more now.”

Interestingly, Jake Paul has also embraced prayer as part of his fight preparation. Paul mentioned that prayer has helped him feel less anxious and more confident heading into the fight. “I had concerns, but I asked Jesus to take it away from me, and he did,” Paul said. “Cry out to Jesus and the power of God and believe in your faith because you literally have no fear. I just keep praying every day and I know something great is going to happen. This is my moment and the beginning of a big chapter for me.”

Fan Take: This fight is significant because it blends the traditional boxing world with new-age celebrity influence, highlighting how athletes are embracing spirituality as part of their mental game. It could signal a shift in how fighters prepare mentally and emotionally, potentially changing the culture of the sport.
