Tom Aspinall has voiced strong criticism of his latest opponent following a social media post. According to a medical update from Aspinall, there is still no set date for his return to the Octagon. In October, his initial defense of the undisputed UFC heavyweight title was cut short in the first round after he suffered eye injuries that prevented him from continuing.

Aspinall has recently discussed the possibility of transitioning to boxing at some point in his career but emphasized that his health remains his top priority right now. However, comments from his UFC 321 main event opponent have prompted Aspinall to remind fans of another ambition he has.

In response to Cyrille Gane’s Instagram post about training and not yet having a fight date, Aspinall accused Gane of deliberately poking him in the eye during their fight, which harmed his vision. Aspinall, known for his usually relaxed demeanor, has become more intense following the incident. On his YouTube channel, he warned that if he comes back, there will no longer be a “Mr. Nice Guy.” Replying to Gane’s post, Aspinall said he isn’t medically cleared to fight due to the injury from Gane’s “disgusting claws” and hinted at surgery but promised a fierce comeback to “smash your face” if Gane cheats again.

Despite his serious stance, Aspinall retains a sense of humor, recently joking about his eye injury in a video on his YouTube channel. When mentioned that he tends to focus on his injured eye while in cryotherapy, he quipped, “Put your eyes in!”

Fan Take: This developing rivalry between Aspinall and Gane adds an intense layer of drama to the heavyweight division, which fans thrive on. Aspinall’s vow to return stronger underscores the high stakes in the sport, promising thrilling matchups and personal redemption that energize the MMA community.
